Huntsville, Alabama – A round of strong thunderstorms is expected to sweep across North Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee beginning late Tuesday morning, bringing heavy rain, frequent lightning, and gusty, erratic winds.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, there’s a 60–80% chance of storms through this evening, with the strongest activity likely between noon and 6 p.m. The main concerns include downpours that could lead to localized flooding, lightning strikes, and unpredictable wind gusts that may impact travel and outdoor plans.

Cities like Huntsville, Florence, Decatur, and Scottsboro could see sudden changes in weather, while counties bordering Tennessee—such as Limestone and Madison—should prepare for quick-moving cells. In Tennessee, areas including Fayetteville and Pulaski are also at risk. Power outages and minor wind damage are possible if stronger storms develop.

Officials urge residents to monitor multiple sources for warnings, including NOAA radios, TV alerts, and mobile apps. Avoid outdoor activities during peak storm hours and secure loose items around homes.

Thunderstorm chances taper off tonight, but another round could follow later this week.
