Tennessee – A blanket of fog hangs low over the Mississippi River this morning, softening the skyline and cutting visibility for drivers across Memphis. At 40 degrees with calm winds, mist clings to bridges along I-40 and I-55. If you’re heading out, use low beams and give yourself extra space on wet pavement.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Visibility has dropped in spots, especially near the river and low-lying areas. Conditions will gradually improve late this morning as sunshine mixes down and winds shift slightly from the southeast.

Once the fog lifts, temperatures rebound to near 64 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Tonight stays mild with a low around 47. Tuesday turns mostly cloudy with a high near 67 and south winds gusting up to 25 mph by afternoon.

The midweek warmup continues. Wednesday reaches near 70 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. By Thursday, highs climb to 76 degrees. A 20 percent chance of showers develops Thursday afternoon, followed by a slight chance of thunderstorms Thursday night.

Friday brings a 30 percent chance of showers and storms, mainly after noon. While no snow or freeze is expected, brief heavy rain could slow traffic during peak travel times. Keep rain gear handy and monitor updates as we head toward the weekend.

Looking into President’s Day week, above-normal temperatures signal more spring vibes ahead across the Mid-South.
