MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The air across the Mid-South feels brisk and still this morning, with a faint shimmer of frost forming on rooftops from Collierville to West Memphis. A hard chill has settled in to start the new week, marking one of the coldest stretches so far this fall. But the cold grip won’t last long — warmer, breezy air is set to surge in just days.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, clear skies and northwest winds up to 30 mph are helping pull in drier, colder air across western Tennessee and eastern Arkansas. Lows tonight will fall to the upper 20s, prompting a freeze threat for much of the metro. Sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing should be protected through Tuesday morning.

Monday stays sunny but cool, with highs only in the low 40s. Veterans Day on Tuesday brings a notable rebound — bright sun and light southwest winds will push afternoon highs into the mid-50s, perfect for outdoor ceremonies. By Wednesday, temperatures will climb sharply, reaching near 70 degrees as a ridge of high pressure builds across the South.

Residents should plan for several chilly mornings early in the week, followed by ideal travel and outdoor conditions through Friday. To be fair, another front could arrive next weekend, possibly knocking temperatures back down before Thanksgiving week begins. For now, it’s a rare stretch of calm, clear fall weather for the Bluff City — a welcome pause between cold snaps.
