Memphis, TN – West Tennessee will face oppressive, dangerous heat on Saturday as heat indices climb above 105°F, with some areas like Jonesboro and Corning at risk of exceeding 110°F through 9 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service Memphis, a Heat Advisory remains in effect for much of the region, while an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for northern counties along the Tennessee-Arkansas border. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may bring brief relief east of the Mississippi River, but areas to the west are likely to stay under a high heat threat all day.
Cities including Memphis, Forrest City, and Blytheville can expect the hottest conditions between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Residents are urged to take frequent breaks in air conditioning, avoid strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, and never leave children or pets in unattended vehicles. Light, loose, and light-colored clothing is recommended for anyone spending time outside.
Heat-related illnesses are a serious risk, especially for vulnerable groups and outdoor workers. Advisories are expected to remain in effect through Saturday night. Stay tuned for further updates and take precautions to stay safe as heat continues to impact the region.
