Nashville, TN – A Tornado Watch has been issued for portions of Northern Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee, effective from 8:30 PM CDT Saturday until 3:00 AM CDT Sunday. The watch area, including cities like Huntsville, Florence, and Lawrenceburg, faces the risk of severe weather overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, the primary threats include the likelihood of a few tornadoes, with some potentially reaching intensity levels capable of causing significant damage. Additionally, scattered damaging winds with gusts up to 75 MPH and isolated hail as large as 1.5 inches in diameter are expected.

The tornado watch affects a population of nearly 1.8 million people, including 514 schools and 40 hospitals, spanning areas from Muscle Shoals, AL to Huntsville, AL. Supercell thunderstorms from northeast Mississippi are moving into the watch area, bringing with them a continued risk of tornadoes and damaging winds.
