Tehachapi, California – Heavy snow and gusty winds will sweep into the Tehachapi and Frazier Mountain communities late Sunday night, creating dangerous travel conditions through Wednesday evening.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday until 10 p.m. Wednesday for Tehachapi and Frazier Park. Up to 14 inches of snow is possible during the multi-day storm, with the heaviest snowfall likely Monday into Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, wind gusts could reach 45 mph, leading to blowing snow and reduced visibility at times. Gusty winds may also bring down tree branches and create isolated power outages.

Travel could become very difficult to impossible, especially along Highway 58 through Tehachapi Pass and Interstate 5 near the Grapevine. The storm may significantly impact both the Monday morning and evening commutes as snow intensifies and roads turn slick.
