Streator, IL – A 16-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen Wednesday afternoon inside a residence in Streator, prompting a multi-agency police investigation.
According to a statement released by the Streator Police Department, officers responded around 5:44 p.m. to the 1100 block of Arthur Street after receiving reports that someone had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found the teenager with a single gunshot wound to the stomach.
Authorities said the teen was first taken to Streator OSF and later transferred to OSF in Peoria. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators said another person of interest was located nearby, and officers remained on the scene interviewing witnesses.
The investigation is being supported by the LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office, LaSalle and Livingston County sheriff’s departments, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
Officials have not released any additional details or identified anyone involved. The department said further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
