Powell, TN – A Tennessee woman was found dead on a dirt trail near a community pool in Powell on Monday. Deputies responded to the Broadacres Subdivision and located the body behind the pool along the 7700 block of Cranley Road.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, detectives from Major Crimes and Juvenile Crimes were called to the scene, along with the Knox County Medical Examiner. Authorities began gathering evidence. A short time later, detectives arrested a 15-year-old male from Powell and charged him with second-degree murder. He is being held at the Richard L. Bean Detention Facility.
Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler expressed gratitude to the local school system for its cooperation. “We ask you to keep the family of the victim, the Powell Community, and our responding personnel in your prayers,” Spangler said. “As law enforcement professionals, nothing can prepare us for days like yesterday.”
The investigation is ongoing, and more charges may be filed, according to officials.
