Tampa, Fla. – Storms are set to return across the Tampa Bay area this weekend, with scattered thunderstorms expected to bring lightning and brief downpours Saturday afternoon and evening. Highs will reach into the lower 90s, but humidity will make it feel closer to 100.

According to the National Weather Service in Ruskin, storm chances rise to 60% Saturday, especially between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., before tapering off overnight. Localized street flooding is possible in low-lying neighborhoods, particularly in downtown Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Brandon.

Drivers should watch for sudden ponding on I-275, I-75, and the Howard Frankland Bridge during heavier showers. Power outages may also occur if lightning strikes electrical lines. Officials recommend avoiding outdoor activities during the afternoon and charging devices in case of outages.

Sunday will remain hot, with highs near 92°F and a 40% chance of afternoon storms. The unsettled pattern is expected to linger into early next week, though rain chances begin to diminish by Tuesday.

Scattered showers and storms remain in the forecast through Monday before drier conditions take hold midweek. Updates will be issued if stronger storms threaten.
