Tampa, Florida – Tampa residents should prepare for steamy afternoons and near-daily thunderstorms through early next week, with heat index values pushing 104°F and storm chances as high as 80% each day.

According to the National Weather Service in Ruskin, afternoon storms will continue forming daily across the Tampa Bay area, with the highest chances between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. through at least Monday. While rainfall totals will vary, isolated areas could see localized flooding from slow-moving downpours.

Expect highs near 92–93°F daily, with heat index values between 100–104°F. Humidity levels remain high, and winds will shift gradually from southeast to southwest through the weekend. Storms may bring frequent lightning, brief gusty winds, and minor street flooding—especially in low-lying neighborhoods like Seminole Heights and Davis Islands.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, secure loose items before storms roll in, and avoid flooded intersections. Daily afternoon rain also means potential delays on I-275 and I-4 during the evening commute.

This wet summer pattern is expected to persist into midweek, with more organized storms likely returning by Tuesday.
