Florida – Headlights glow in thick gray haze across Tampa Bay this morning, and visibility has dropped to about half a mile at times. Drivers along I-275 and the Veterans Expressway are easing off the gas as dense fog blankets the region.
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. According to the National Weather Service in Ruskin, widespread fog will gradually lift through midmorning. Conditions improve late morning as sunshine breaks through and temperatures climb toward 75°F.
If you’re commuting now, slow down and use low-beam headlights. Sudden visibility drops are possible near bridges and low-lying areas.
Patchy fog may redevelop late tonight, with lows near 58°F. Friday turns mostly sunny and warmer, reaching 77°F. The warming trend continues into Valentine’s Day Saturday. Highs surge to around 81°F under mostly sunny skies. It will feel more like April than February, with light winds shifting southerly.
Sunday brings a change. A slight chance of showers develops after midday, then thunderstorms become possible later in the afternoon. Highs again reach near 80°F. By Sunday night, rain and storms become more widespread, with an 80% chance of precipitation and gusty south winds.
Plan for slick roads and brief downpours Sunday evening. Allow extra travel time and monitor radar if you have outdoor plans.
Looking ahead, NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across much of the Southeast. Highs in Tampa may remain in the upper 70s into midweek as a broader U.S. warmup expands. Spring vibes are building fast.
