Tampa, Fla. – Humid conditions and scattered storms will dominate Tampa Bay’s weather into early next week, with rising storm chances expected Sunday and Monday as heat index values push toward 97 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Ruskin, isolated showers could develop Saturday afternoon, with winds from the northeast reaching 20 mph and gusts topping 23 mph. Storm chances increase Sunday and Monday, with a 40% likelihood of afternoon downpours that could disrupt travel on I-275, I-4, and along the Howard Frankland Bridge.

Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco counties will be most at risk for afternoon thunderstorms, bringing brief heavy rain, lightning, and reduced visibility for drivers. Outdoor plans from Clearwater Beach to downtown Tampa may see interruptions as storms build after 2 p.m. both days.

Residents are urged to use caution during peak heating hours when storms are strongest and to secure outdoor items with gusty winds in the forecast. Power flickers and minor flooding in poor-drainage spots are also possible.

Storm chances ease slightly by midweek, but muggy weather and daily shower risks will linger.
