TAMPA, Fla. – A stalled frontal boundary will keep Tampa Bay soggy through Labor Day, raising the chance for flooding during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected each day through Tuesday. Rain chances remain high — around 70 to 80 percent daily — with downpours strong enough to cause ponding on roads, especially in low-lying and urban areas.

The Weather Prediction Center has placed much of west-central Florida, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota, under a flooding risk through Monday. Drivers along I-75, U.S. 41, and the Howard Frankland Bridge should expect slower commutes, while beachgoers will face rip currents and lightning risks throughout the weekend.

Residents are urged to keep phones charged, avoid driving through flooded intersections, and stay weather aware as additional advisories may be issued.

Storm chances will linger into Tuesday before conditions begin to ease midweek, though unsettled weather may stick around longer in inland areas.
