Tampa, Florida – A quiet, sunny start to the week across Tampa Bay will shift quickly as isolated storms develop Tuesday afternoon, bringing brief downpours and lightning during peak commute hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, a weakening front will stall over West Central Florida beginning Tuesday, increasing rain chances to between 10 and 50 percent through Wednesday. Storms are expected to develop mainly during the afternoon and evening hours, impacting areas including Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater.

High temperatures will climb into the upper 80s each day, with inland areas feeling the most heat. Roads such as I-275 and I-4 could see brief slowdowns during heavier showers, though widespread severe weather is not expected.

By Thursday, drier air returns, allowing sunshine to dominate once again. Temperatures will continue rising, reaching between 86 and 89 degrees by Friday, approaching record levels for late March.

Residents should stay alert for lightning during midweek storms and plan outdoor activities around afternoon rain chances.

Additional updates are possible as storm coverage and timing become clearer through midweek.
