Tampa, FL – Breezy conditions and scattered thunderstorms are expected across Florida today, Sunday, October 5, according to the US National Weather Service Tampa Bay Florida. The agency reports a 40% to 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening, with wind gusts reaching up to 30 mph in some inland and coastal areas.
According to the latest forecast maps, north-central Florida could see the strongest gusts, including areas near Gainesville, Tampa, and Orlando, while coastal communities along the Gulf may experience lighter but persistent winds around 15–20 mph.
Forecasters said the breezy pattern will keep temperatures moderate but may cause choppy conditions for boaters and beachgoers, especially along the Gulf Coast and Tampa Bay waters. Drivers should also use caution during brief downpours or when traveling through open stretches of highway exposed to crosswinds.
The National Weather Service advises residents to secure outdoor items and remain alert for any lightning or sudden changes in weather.
