Tampa, Florida – Scattered thunderstorms are set to disrupt daily routines across Tampa Bay Tuesday, as hot, humid air collides with a fresh round of rain and lightning. Coastal counties could see storms as early as late morning, with showers spreading inland and growing stronger through the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, storms will first develop near the Gulf Coast before moving eastward, increasing in coverage and intensity during the day. High temperatures are expected to reach between 90 and 95 degrees, with southwest winds at 5 to 10 mph making it feel even warmer across the region.
Residents in Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Manatee counties should prepare for brief but heavy downpours, gusty winds, and frequent lightning, especially along major roadways such as I-275 and US-19. Localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas and neighborhoods with poor drainage.
The National Weather Service advises avoiding outdoor activities during storms and staying off the roads during periods of heavy rain. Make sure to charge electronic devices in advance and secure loose outdoor items.
Scattered showers and storms will remain possible into the evening, with another update expected later Tuesday as the unsettled weather continues across Central Florida.
