Tampa, FL – Drivers across northern and west-central Florida should use caution this morning as dense fog has formed over parts of the Nature Coast and inland counties, according to the US National Weather Service Tampa Bay.

Visibility may drop to a quarter mile or less in some locations, creating hazardous travel conditions through mid-morning. The weather service urges motorists to slow down, avoid using cruise control, and delay travel if possible until fog lifts later today.

By the afternoon, forecasters expect isolated showers and thunderstorms to develop across southwest Florida, mainly from Sarasota to Fort Myers, as warm, humid air returns. Temperatures will climb into the mid-80s along the coast and upper 80s to near 90 inland, typical for late October.

While widespread severe weather is not expected, brief downpours and lightning are possible in stronger cells. Conditions should gradually improve by evening with mostly calm overnight weather ahead.

Residents should stay alert for changing visibility and keep an eye on radar updates throughout the day.
