Tampa, Florida – Fog is once again slowing early travel across the Tampa Bay region as warm, humid air settles over the I-75 corridor and surrounding routes. Conditions are expected to improve late in the morning, but temperatures will climb quickly into the mid-80s to near 90° through Saturday, keeping roads warm and visibility changeable at sunrise on I-275, U.S. 41 and U.S. 301.
According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, late-night and morning fog will repeat each day through Saturday, with 0–20% rain chances and periods of sunshine each afternoon. Overnight lows will stay mild in the upper 50s to mid-60s, allowing fog to form rapidly before daybreak. Marine areas will remain calm until Sunday, when increasing winds ahead of a cold front create hazardous conditions for small crafts.
By Sunday morning, a cold front sweeping into West Central Florida will bring 30–60% chances for showers, choppier marine conditions and falling temperatures late in the day. Highs will still reach the low to mid-80s, but cooler air arrives by Monday with highs dipping into the upper 50s to upper 60s.
Drivers should expect more daybreak slowdowns on I-4, particularly near Lakeland and into Tampa where shallow fog tends to linger in low spots. Coastal areas from Clearwater to Bradenton may see dense pockets where sea breeze interactions thicken the fog near sunrise.
Officials advise caution during early commute hours, especially on bridges where visibility can drop suddenly.
