Tampa Bay, FL – Severe weather conditions in Tampa Bay are starting to ease, but flooding and high winds remain a concern as the storm moves out of the area. A Flood Warning is still in effect until 8:45 a.m. Thursday, with localized flooding continuing in low-lying areas and along major roadways like US-19 and I-275.
While the worst of the storm has passed, strong winds will persist throughout the day, with gusts up to 43 mph. The Tornado Watch and Hurricane Warnings have been lifted, but a Small Craft Advisory remains in place for the Gulf, with rough seas expected to continue into Friday.
Floodwaters are slowly receding, but residual flooding is still impacting parts of the region, with some roads remaining impassable. Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded areas and to exercise caution as they begin recovery efforts. Streams and rivers will continue to rise, especially in areas that experienced up to 18 inches of rain during the storm’s peak.
By Friday, conditions are expected to improve significantly, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 80 degrees. However, lingering water hazards could pose a threat through the weekend. The National Weather Service advises residents to stay updated on local flood advisories and to avoid travel in affected areas until waters fully recede.
