Tallahassee, FL – A cold front moving into the region Thursday is expected to bring slightly cooler temperatures and breezy conditions through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee.

Forecasters said northeast winds will gust between 20 to 30 mph at times from Thursday evening into Sunday. The front will push daytime highs a few degrees lower, with much of North Florida and South Georgia seeing upper 70s to low 80s this weekend after recent stretches of warmer weather.

According to the National Weather Service, the stronger winds will also create hazardous marine conditions. Surf heights could reach up to 3 feet along the Florida Panhandle coast, and a high risk of rip currents will remain in place through the weekend. Beachgoers are urged to use extreme caution when entering the water, especially around Panama City, Apalachicola, and coastal areas near Destin.

The breezy weather is expected to gradually ease by early next week, with temperatures climbing back toward the mid-80s by Monday, October 6.

Residents planning outdoor activities should prepare for gusty winds and cooler evenings. Those visiting beaches are advised to monitor local surf reports and follow lifeguard instructions.
