TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Residents across the Florida Panhandle should brace for a stormy weekend as daily rounds of thunderstorms keep the region unsettled and humid. Friday’s high will climb near 91 degrees, with a heat index topping 102 before storms build during the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, rain chances remain high each day, with the strongest storms expected in the late afternoon and evening hours. Localized flooding is possible where downpours linger, with rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch in some spots. Patchy fog could reduce visibility overnight, especially in low-lying areas.

Storms will persist into Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the mid-80s to low 90s. The weekend won’t be a total washout, but scattered thunderstorms will be likely each afternoon. Winds will remain light, limiting storm movement and raising the risk of heavy localized rainfall.

Drivers should allow extra travel time on I-10 and U.S. 27, where quick bursts of rain may cause ponding on roads. Residents are encouraged to keep devices charged in case of power outages and avoid outdoor plans during peak storm hours.

While Monday still carries a 30 percent chance of storms, conditions improve by Tuesday, when skies turn sunny and highs reach the low 90s.
