TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A soggy Labor Day weekend is ahead for much of the Florida Panhandle, south Georgia, and southeast Alabama, where storm chances will peak and temperatures will dip slightly.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, rain chances surge as high as 80% Saturday and Sunday for cities including Tallahassee, Bainbridge, and Dothan. Widespread showers and thunderstorms could bring periods of heavy downpours, making travel difficult and outdoor holiday plans less reliable.

In Tallahassee, highs that typically hover near 90 degrees will settle into the mid-80s through early next week, with similar relief expected in Valdosta, Apalachicola, and across the tri-state region. While the cooler air will be a welcome change, the rain and storm activity could cause localized flooding in low-lying areas and minor delays on major routes such as I-10 and U.S. 27.

Residents are advised to keep a close eye on radar before heading out, charge electronic devices in case of power outages, and allow extra time for travel over the holiday. Showers are expected to linger into Tuesday before drier weather returns midweek.
