Tallahassee, Fla. – North Florida and South Georgia are set for a drier stretch this week, but rising temperatures will push highs back into the 90s by midweek. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee said the shift comes as drier air settles over the region, making nights more comfortable but allowing daytime heat to climb quickly.
According to the weather service, Tallahassee, Perry, and Valdosta can expect daily highs in the upper 80s to low 90s through Sunday, with overnight lows mostly in the upper 60s to low 70s. Rain chances remain slim at 10 to 20 percent for most areas, though Cross City stands out with higher odds of showers midweek, peaking near 50 percent on Wednesday.
Drivers along I-10 and I-75 will find mostly dry conditions, though brief pop-up showers can’t be ruled out. Apalachicola and Panama City may see isolated coastal showers early in the week before the drier air fully takes hold.
The warmer afternoons will bring heat indices into the mid-90s, so residents should stay hydrated and limit strenuous activity during peak sun hours. Outdoor events and travel will benefit from the lower rain chances, but lightning remains a risk in isolated storms.
Drier conditions are expected to persist into the weekend, though forecasters caution another upper-level disturbance could bring scattered rain back to the area next week.
