Tallahassee, Fla. – Scorching heat will grip the Florida Big Bend and neighboring South Georgia through Saturday, with highs near 95 degrees in Tallahassee, Albany, and Valdosta before a gradual cooldown begins early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Saturday is expected to be the hottest day of the week, with widespread 90s stretching from the Panhandle to inland Georgia. Heat indices could make it feel even hotter during peak afternoon hours.

Cities including Perry, Panama City, and Apalachicola are forecast to stay in the low- to mid-90s through the weekend, with minimal rain chances. Dothan and Bainbridge will also see similar conditions, keeping most of the region hot and dry until late Sunday.

By Monday and Tuesday, moisture creeps back into the forecast with a 15 to 30 percent chance of showers and storms across the Big Bend and South Georgia. That shift will help trim daytime highs closer to the upper 80s by midweek. Drivers should be cautious of brief downpours reducing visibility, and residents are urged to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon heat.

Rain chances remain in place through much of next week as temperatures trend slightly below this weekend’s peak.
