Tallahassee, FL – Early morning travelers across Florida’s Big Bend and far southern Georgia should be prepared for dense fog reducing visibility to under a quarter mile, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee.
A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Eastern Time Saturday for much of the inland Big Bend region, including Tallahassee, Perry, and Bainbridge, Georgia. The fog could make for hazardous driving conditions, especially along rural highways and low-lying areas.
Forecasters advise motorists to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and increase following distance when traveling through foggy areas. Visibility is expected to gradually improve after sunrise as temperatures warm.
“Reduced visibility may create hazardous travel,” the NWS warned, adding that delays are possible for early commuters. The advisory extends across portions of south-central Georgia and the Florida Panhandle, where patchy dense fog has already been observed early this morning.
Conditions will clear later today, leading to a mild and mostly sunny afternoon with highs near the mid-70s.
