Tallahassee, FL – After a frosty start to Tuesday morning, a steady warm-up is underway across North Florida and South Georgia, with temperatures climbing well above normal heading into the latter half of the week.

According to the National Weather Service office in Tallahassee, early Tuesday morning temperatures dipped into the 30s and low 40s, but sunshine will allow highs to rebound into the upper 50s and low 60s by the afternoon. Warmer air will continue to build into the region through midweek.

By Wednesday and Thursday, daytime highs are expected to climb into the mid-60s to low 70s, well above average for mid-December. Typical highs this time of year are in the low to mid-60s, with overnight lows in the 40s.

Forecasters say the next chance for rain arrives Wednesday night into early Friday morning, as a cold front moves through the region. Rainfall amounts are expected to range from 0.25 to 0.5 inches, with locally higher totals possible. Widespread severe weather is not anticipated at this time.

Despite the passing front, temperatures are expected to remain mild. Looking ahead to next week, the National Weather Service notes a 70 to 80 percent chance of above-normal temperatures, with warm conditions potentially lasting into the Christmas holiday.

Overnight lows later this week will remain relatively mild, generally staying in the 40s and low 50s, reducing the risk of additional frost.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on forecast changes, especially regarding rain timing later this week, but overall travel and outdoor impacts are expected to remain limited.
