Tallahassee, FL – A reinforcing cold front has swept through the Southeast, ushering in cooler, drier, and breezier conditions across the Florida Panhandle, southeast Alabama, and southwest Georgia. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee warns that low relative humidity values between 20–30% each afternoon could create elevated fire danger through Friday.

According to forecasters, the driest air will settle inland from the Gulf Coast, with humidity levels lowest in interior areas such as Dothan, Bainbridge, and Marianna. Near-coastal areas, including Tallahassee and Apalachicola, may see slightly higher humidity but still face increased fire risks.

Officials caution that any spark could quickly spread, especially where vegetation is dry. Residents are urged to avoid open flames, keep vehicles off dry grass, and refrain from outdoor burning unless approved by local authorities.

Despite the dry air, afternoon temperatures will remain pleasant, reaching the upper 70s to low 80s, with clear skies dominating the region. Cooler nights are expected to continue into the weekend, bringing a true taste of fall across North Florida and surrounding areas.
