TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A reinforcing cold front moving across the Gulf Coast is bringing breezy, cooler conditions to start the week, with a Small Craft Advisory in effect through Monday morning for Gulf waters west of Apalachicola. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee warns that north winds around 20 knots and seas of 4 to 6 feet will create hazardous boating conditions overnight into early Monday.
According to the Weather Service, temperatures will dip below normal Sunday night into Monday morning, with lows in the 40s inland and 50s along the coast. Despite the cool start, a steady warming trend begins Tuesday, pushing daytime highs back into the mid-70s to near 80 by midweek. Nights will remain comfortably cool through Wednesday before humidity begins to climb late in the week.
Dry weather will persist, offering no relief for worsening drought conditions across the eastern Panhandle and Big Bend. Forecasters note that aside from a brief chance of light rain early Monday, no significant precipitation is expected all week.
Boaters are advised to remain in port until winds and waves subside Monday afternoon. Inland residents should prepare for a chilly morning commute but can expect mild, sunny afternoons for much of the upcoming week.
