Tallahassee, FL – Residents in Tallahassee could see a brief rain and snow mix early Sunday morning as a cold front moves through the region, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for nearby areas, with Tallahassee expected to remain mostly rain, though a short-lived mix with snow cannot be ruled out near daybreak Sunday. The system is forecast to move in overnight Saturday and exit by mid-morning Sunday.
Forecasters say rain will develop during the pre-dawn hours Sunday, with colder air briefly allowing precipitation to mix with snow across parts of the Florida Panhandle, particularly north of I-10. Any snow would be light and short-lived, with no accumulation expected in the Tallahassee area.
The best chance for accumulating snow remains well north of the city in southwest Georgia and southeast Alabama, where up to one inch of snow is possible, mainly on grassy surfaces.
Officials say little to no travel impacts are expected in Tallahassee, but motorists should remain cautious early Sunday morning as temperatures dip into the 30s.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and allow extra time for early morning travel if heading north toward Georgia or Alabama.
