Tallahassee, Florida – Taillights fade into a white-gray haze across North Florida this morning as dense fog settles over highways, neighborhoods, and rural roads. Moist air hangs low, swallowing streetlights and turning a routine drive into a cautious crawl.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through mid-morning for the Florida Big Bend, Panhandle, southeast Alabama, and portions of south-central Georgia. Visibility has dropped to a quarter mile or less in spots, creating dangerous travel conditions during peak commuting hours.

Fog is thickest along I-10, US-27, and secondary roads near rivers and low-lying areas. Drivers around Tallahassee, Quincy, Crawfordville, Monticello, Bainbridge, and Dothan should slow down, use low-beam headlights, and increase following distance. Conditions can change abruptly within a few blocks.

As the fog lifts later this morning, sunshine returns and temperatures rise quickly. Highs reach the mid to upper 70s, drying pavement and improving visibility. Patchy fog may redevelop late tonight and again early Friday as calm winds and high humidity persist.

Into the weekend, warmth sticks around. Saturday brings another round of morning fog, followed by clouds and a growing chance of showers later in the day. Rain becomes more likely Saturday night, with scattered showers lingering into Sunday. Roads could turn slick during evening travel, especially after dark.

Early next week trends cooler and drier. That shift should reduce fog coverage, though damp mornings remain possible where rain falls.

For now, the immediate concern is this morning’s visibility. Allow extra time and expect sudden slowdowns.
