Millsboro, Delaware – A routine traffic stop in Millsboro early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a Philadelphia man now facing multiple felony drug, weapon, and DUI-related charges, according to Delaware State Police.

According to Delaware State Police, the incident occurred Sunday, December 14, at approximately 12:01 a.m., when a trooper observed a gray Dodge Charger traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard near Centerview Drive with a headlight out. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was identified as Jose Morales-Colon, 61, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Police say the trooper detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed signs of impairment. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted, after which Morales-Colon was taken into custody without incident.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered approximately 18.77 grams of cocaine, 72 grams of marijuana, five suspected oxycodone dosage units, a large serrated machete concealed in the rear passenger area, and $8,135 in suspected drug proceeds, police said.

Morales-Colon was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 4, where he was charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, among additional drug and traffic-related charges.

Following arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 7, Morales-Colon was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $51,503 cash bond.

Authorities emphasized that all charges are allegations, and Morales-Colon is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
