Millsboro, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Friday morning, October 24, 2025, on Millsboro Highway near Mumford Road.

According to state police, a Mazda CX-5 was stopped in the westbound lane waiting to turn into a private driveway around 11 a.m. when it was struck by an Oldsmobile Ciera traveling behind it. Investigators say the Oldsmobile attempted to pass the Mazda on the left as it began to turn, swerving to avoid collision but striking garbage receptacles before hitting the Mazda’s left side.

The impact forced the Mazda off the roadway and into a tree. The driver, a 69-year-old Millsboro woman, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Her 73-year-old male passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries and later died on Saturday, October 25, from crash-related trauma. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.

The Oldsmobile driver, a 34-year-old Millsboro man, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Police closed Millsboro Highway for roughly two hours while the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Master Corporal R. Albert at (302) 703-3266 or reach out to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
