Georgetown, DE – A Georgetown man has been arrested and charged after allegedly burglarizing the home of an elderly resident earlier this month, according to Delaware State Police.

Troopers said that on September 9, 2025, around 3:40 p.m., they responded to a home on the 20000 block of Wilson Road in Georgetown for a reported burglary. Investigators determined that a 55-year-old suspect entered the residence of a 67-year-old man while the victim was sleeping and stole his wallet.

According to police, the victim’s credit card was later used at a local convenience store. Through investigative efforts, detectives identified Louis Bland, Jr., 55, of Georgetown as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On September 18, 2025, Bland was taken into custody by Millsboro Police on an unrelated incident. He was later charged by Delaware State Police with burglary in the first degree, two felony counts of theft under $1,500 where the victim is 62 or older, and unlawful use of a payment card under $1,500 where the victim is 62 or older.

Bland was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $26,000 cash bond.
