Green Bay, WI – Drivers across Wisconsin should prepare for dense fog and freezing conditions overnight, posing risks on major highways like I-41 and I-43. The National Weather Service warns of reduced visibility and icy roads beginning late tonight and lasting into Sunday morning.

According to the US National Weather Service, areas of dense fog may sharply limit visibility to less than one-quarter mile, creating hazardous travel conditions. Freezing fog is also expected to form on untreated roads, sidewalks, and bridges, potentially causing slippery surfaces. Residents should use low beams and slow down if traveling during these hours.

Tonight’s temperatures will drop to around 29°F, with calm winds turning westward at 5 mph after midnight. The freezing fog will gradually clear by mid-morning Sunday, giving way to mostly cloudy skies and a high near 38°F.

Looking ahead, Monday brings a break from precipitation, with sunny skies and a high of 40°F. However, cloud cover returns Tuesday with highs reaching 36°F. Those planning New Year’s Eve celebrations should prepare for continued cloudy conditions and lows in the mid-20s.

Residents are urged to monitor local weather updates for potential advisories or warnings. Avoid unnecessary travel overnight, and check for icy spots on driveways and sidewalks before venturing out Sunday morning.

Stay safe and plan accordingly as Wisconsin heads into a week of changing conditions.
