Sumter, SC – Two daycare workers from a Dalzell facility were arrested Monday afternoon on child abuse-related charges, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the arrests followed a report from the South Carolina Department of Social Services about alleged child abuse at the Care-A-Lot Daycare located on Old Manning Road.

According to investigators, Denetra Bracey, 45, of Sumter, was charged with one count of Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child. Candice Elizabeth Hudson, 19, also of Sumter, faces four counts of the same charge.

Deputies said both suspects were taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and later released on bond. The alleged incidents remain under investigation.

No details have yet been released regarding the ages of the children involved or the nature of the alleged misconduct. Officials confirmed that the daycare is cooperating with investigators.
