Green, OH – Deputies in Summit County have arrested a man allegedly responsible for a string of break-ins Tuesday, including a theft at the MAPS Air Museum in Green that involved a stolen rifle and electric bicycle, authorities said.
According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, employees at the MAPS Air Museum on International Parkway reported a break-in at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday after discovering a lock had been broken off a front entrance. Several items were missing, including an electric bicycle and a rifle. Detectives processed the scene and later found the stolen e-bike nearby.
At approximately 3 p.m. the same day, deputies responded to a business on Greensburg Road in Green after the owner reported seeing a man run out of the building wearing his hat and sunglasses. Deputies were able to locate and detain the suspect near Massillon Road and Greensburg Road.
Investigators later determined the same individual was allegedly responsible for all three incidents: the museum theft, the break-in at the Greensburg Road business, and an earlier burglary at a local concession stand. A Sheriff’s Office K-9 team recovered the stolen rifle in a wooded area, and additional stolen items were also located.
The suspect, identified as Derrick Duck, 43, of Palatka, Florida, was transported to the Summit County Jail. He is charged with Theft (F-4), Breaking and Entering (F-4), Theft of a Firearm (F-4), Weapons Under Disability (F-3), and Criminal Damaging (M-4).
