The primary threats include damaging winds with gusts exceeding 60 mph and heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding.
According to the NWS, the region is under a marginal risk level, meaning severe storms are possible but not guaranteed. Residents are advised to stay informed and prepare for rapidly changing weather conditions. Areas such as Laramie, Rawlins, and Saratoga are likely to experience the most intense storms, with Cheyenne also potentially seeing some strong winds and rain.
As the weekend approaches, the weather is expected to improve significantly. Saturday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high near 76°F, while Sunday will be warmer, reaching 82°F with continued sunshine. The start of next week looks mild, with temperatures in the mid-70s to low-80s, providing a reprieve from tonight’s stormy conditions.
