Michigan – Boaters along Michigan’s Lake Huron coast are urged to take caution as a Small Craft Advisory goes into effect tonight. The advisory, stretching from Saginaw Bay to Harbor Beach, warns of hazardous conditions on the water, with winds expected to reach up to 30 knots and waves peaking at seven feet. The advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, posing significant risks for small vessels navigating the lake.
According to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac office, strong west winds will whip through the area, making conditions perilous for inexperienced mariners or those in smaller boats. Boaters should avoid venturing out on Lake Huron overnight and into Friday morning until conditions calm. The advisory signals potential dangers not only for small boats but also for shoreline residents and anyone planning to be near the water.
Weekend Forecast Overview
For those inland, Michigan is expected to experience relatively mild and sunny conditions for most of Friday, with a high around 60°F. Winds will remain breezy, shifting to the northwest at 11 mph, with gusts up to 22 mph. Friday night will bring mostly clear skies and temperatures dropping to around 38°F.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday should be mostly sunny with a high near 56°F, while Saturday night is forecasted to bring increased cloudiness and a chance of showers after midnight. By Sunday, rain is likely, with an 90% chance of showers throughout the day as temperatures reach a high of 62°F. Veterans Day on Monday promises partly sunny skies with a high near 58°F, offering a milder conclusion to the weekend.
