Strong Thunderstorms Move Through Georgia and Florida, Bringing High Winds and Hail

Atlanta, GA – Strong thunderstorms are sweeping across parts of Georgia and Florida this morning, bringing gusty winds, heavy rain, and small hail to affected areas.

According to the National Weather Service, a storm moving through Warren, Hancock, Glascock, Washington, and Taliaferro counties in Georgia is producing winds up to 50 mph, pea-sized hail, and frequent lightning. The storm, located near Warthen at 5:50 a.m. EDT, is moving northeast at 50 mph and could cause minor tree damage and unsecured objects to be blown around.

Meanwhile, another storm is impacting northeastern Florida, including Nassau, Duval, and southern Camden counties. The storm, tracked near St. George at 5:48 a.m. EDT, is moving northeast at 55 mph. Wind gusts of 40 mph, minor flooding, and small hail are possible, with areas like Fernandina Beach, Kingsland, and Yulee in the storm’s path.

Residents are advised to seek shelter indoors and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Updates will follow as conditions develop.
