Jackson, MS – The National Weather Service in Jackson says Mississippi will experience two rounds of cooler air this week, with the coldest temperatures arriving next weekend behind a stronger cold front.

After a mild Sunday, a cold front moving through tonight will drop temperatures into the 40s and 50s for highs Monday and Tuesday. By midweek, southerly winds will return, allowing temperatures to rebound above normal — with highs climbing back into the 60s and even low 70s by Wednesday and Thursday.

However, another strong cold front will sweep across the region late in the week, ushering in much colder air for Friday through Sunday. Forecast lows could dip into the 20s and 30s, with highs struggling to reach the 40s and 50s over the weekend.

The NWS advises residents to prepare for a sharp temperature drop heading into next weekend and to monitor updated forecasts as the second front approaches.
