Albuquerque, NM – After a mild Friday, temperatures will drop sharply this weekend across much of New Mexico as a colder air mass settles in, according to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque.

Saturday and Saturday Night:
Breezy north winds will develop Saturday, especially across northeast New Mexico, with gusts up to 35–40 mph possible.
By Saturday night, east canyon winds are expected to strengthen through gaps and passes into Albuquerque and Santa Fe, producing gusts of 25–35 mph between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday. These winds could cause difficult crosswinds along roads such as Tramway Boulevard, and unsecured outdoor objects may become airborne.

Sunday Night into Monday:
A weak disturbance will bring light snow to the northern and west-central high terrain, including the Tusas and Sangre de Cristo Mountains. There’s a 25–50% chance of at least 5 inches of accumulation in higher elevations, leading to slick or icy road conditions into early Monday morning.

Temperatures:
Highs will be near seasonal averages Friday, then drop into the 40s and low 50s by Sunday and early next week. Most of New Mexico will experience a chilly Monday morning, with low temperatures in the 20s and 30s.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, use caution when traveling in mountain areas, and stay updated as conditions evolve.
