Los Angeles, CA – A storm system will bring widespread rain and gusty winds to Southern California from Tuesday through early Friday.

The storm, fueled by an atmospheric river, could bring 1-2 inches of rain north of Point Conception and up to 4 inches in the mountains. Ventura and Los Angeles counties will likely see 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain, with mountain areas receiving 1 to 3 inches.

According to the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard, moderate rainfall is the most probable outcome. However, there is a slight chance of heavier rain causing more significant impacts. The storm also brings a 10-20% chance of moderate debris flows over recent burn scars.

Peak rainfall is expected from Tuesday at 10 a.m. to Wednesday at 6 a.m. for Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Rainfall rates could reach 0.5 inches per hour, with isolated areas seeing up to 0.75 inches per hour.

Thunderstorm chances remain low at under 10%, but strong southerly winds will accompany the storm.

Officials urge residents to prepare for potential flooding, debris flows, and hazardous driving conditions.
