LINCOLN, IL – A storm system moving across the region through Wednesday night is now expected to take a more southern route, which will limit rainfall across much of central Illinois, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln.

Most of central Illinois will likely receive less than half an inch of rain, while areas along the I-74 corridor could see less than a tenth of an inch.
Meanwhile, southern sections of the state, particularly south of I-70, remain on track to pick up between 0.5 and 1 inch of rainfall.

The shift in the storm’s track means northern and central counties will see lighter precipitation, while southern Illinois continues to face steadier rainfall totals through Thursday morning.

No severe weather is anticipated, but motorists should remain alert for patchy wet roads and low visibility in heavier showers.
