Peachtree City, GA – A powerful storm system brought heavy rainfall to northern Georgia, soaking parts of the region with up to seven inches of rain.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the heaviest rain fell over Haralson, Polk, Bartow, and Cherokee counties. A swath of 4 to 6 inches drenched these areas, while locations north and west of I-85 recorded 2 to 4 inches.
The rainfall has saturated the ground, increasing the risk of flooding. The weather service warns that rivers, creeks, and streams across northern Georgia may continue to rise as runoff flows downstream. Residents should monitor local conditions and be prepared for possible flood impacts.
Although the storm has moved out, its effects linger. Officials urge caution, especially in low-lying areas prone to flooding. Drivers should avoid water-covered roads and remain alert to changing weather conditions.
