Little Rock, AR – A Freeze Warning has been issued for nearly all of Arkansas as temperatures are expected to plunge between 20 and 30 degrees late Sunday night through Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.

The warning, which covers much of central, eastern, southern, and western Arkansas, will remain in effect from 9 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday. Forecasters say this will likely bring the first widespread hard freeze of the season, marking an end to the region’s growing season.

According to the NWS, frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and sensitive vegetation and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover or bring indoors plants, wrap exposed pipes, and let faucets drip overnight to prevent freezing.

Communities including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Hot Springs, Conway, Russellville, Camden, and Monticello are all within the warning zone. Rural and low-lying areas may experience even colder temperatures near 20°F by early Monday morning.

This freeze event comes as a cold, dry air mass settles over the state, following a weekend cold front. Warmer daytime highs are expected to return by midweek, but forecasters note that the risk for morning frost could persist through Tuesday.
