Hastings, Nebraska – Scattered thunderstorms and light showers will linger across central Nebraska through Wednesday evening, keeping roads slick and skies cloudy as temperatures hover in the upper 70s to mid-80s.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, rainfall totals are expected to remain under half an inch, with storm chances ranging between 15% and 50%. Winds will shift out of the north-northeast at 5 to 15 mph. While no major flooding or severe weather is forecast, brief downpours may reduce visibility and impact localized travel during peak daytime hours.

Thursday brings a shift to mostly cloudy skies with highs cooling into the low to mid-70s. Winds remain light and northeasterly, and skies are expected to begin clearing by the afternoon. On Friday, southeast winds return under partly cloudy skies, with a continued stretch of dry, cooler weather and highs in the upper 70s.

Drivers should stay alert for wet roads through Wednesday evening and allow extra time for commutes. Light jackets may be needed in the mornings as the region experiences a brief cooldown.

Additional updates will be issued as needed, with the next full advisory due early Thursday.
