State College, PA – Tree limbs sway, leaves swirl, and gusts roar through the valleys this morning as a Wind Advisory remains in effect until midnight across much of central Pennsylvania. Winds could reach speeds up to 50 mph, creating hazardous driving conditions and scattered power disruptions throughout the region.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, west winds between 15 and 25 mph will strengthen through midday, with the highest gusts expected this afternoon. Residents are urged to secure outdoor decorations and trash bins, as unsecured items could become dangerous debris. Those driving high-profile vehicles, especially along Route 322 and I-80, should use extra caution as crosswinds intensify.
A few brief showers may pass early today, but skies will gradually clear by evening as winds slowly diminish. Temperatures will hold near 51°F through the day before dipping into the upper 30s tonight under mostly cloudy skies.
Saturday brings calmer air and partly sunny skies, with highs near 53°F — a welcomed break from today’s bluster. Sunday continues mild and mostly clear with highs in the mid-50s, perfect for outdoor cleanup or early fall yard work.
Looking ahead, the start of November appears steady, though forecasters note another cold front may approach by midweek, bringing the first stronger hints of pre-winter chill to Pennsylvania’s northern tier. For now, secure what you can and prepare for a breezy Halloween finish.
