State College, Pennsylvania – Hazy conditions and poor air quality are raising health concerns across central Pennsylvania today as a Code Orange Air Quality Alert remains in effect through midnight Tuesday. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection warns that air pollution levels may become unhealthy for sensitive groups due to smoke drifting in from Canadian wildfires.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, counties including Centre, Clinton, Perry, Dauphin, Snyder, Lebanon, and Lancaster are experiencing elevated fine particulate pollution. Visibility is reduced in some areas, and the thick haze is expected to linger into early Wednesday. Sensitive groups—such as children, seniors, and individuals with heart or lung conditions—are urged to limit outdoor activity.

State College is seeing daytime highs in the mid-80s, with calm winds and widespread haze through Tuesday night. Air is expected to gradually improve after midnight as clearer conditions return Wednesday. No severe weather is forecast for the rest of the week.

Residents are encouraged to check local air quality levels and avoid strenuous outdoor activity. Alerts remain in effect until midnight, with additional advisories possible if smoke persists.
