Ohio State is trying to trademark the “The”
After years of Big Ten fans mocking the school’s use of the “THE” before their name, the institution is now attempting to own the term, literally, by copyrighting the use of the “THE” before their name, in a bid for further merchandising opportunities. The school has over 150 trademarks currently, including the names of former football coach Woody Hayes and Urban Meyer.
