Minneapolis, Minnesota – Record high temperatures near 52 degrees Saturday could impact travel along I-94 as spring-like warmth spreads across southern Minnesota.
According to the US National Weather Service Twin Cities, mostly sunny skies and above-normal temperatures will continue through Tuesday. Record highs are expected in parts of the Twin Cities metro Saturday, with highs reaching the low 50s in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Snow-free areas across southern and western Minnesota could see temperatures climb into the 60s through early next week. Forecast highs include around 50 degrees Sunday and Monday, upper 40s to near 50 Tuesday, before cooler air returns midweek.
Communities including Mankato, Rochester, and areas along U.S. Highway 169 and U.S. Highway 52 are forecast to experience unseasonably warm conditions. Highs Wednesday are expected to dip back into the low 40s as precipitation chances increase.
Major corridors including Interstate 94, Interstate 35W, and Interstate 35E will remain dry through Tuesday, with no significant travel hazards anticipated. The warming trend may accelerate snowmelt in areas that still have snow cover.
Precipitation chances return midweek, though details remain limited at this time.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the mild conditions while monitoring forecast updates for the next system expected later in the week.
